The Niemeyer Lab seeks to understand how viral infections, neuroimmune dysfunction, and other environmental risk factors converge to drive neurodegeneration. Through interdisciplinary approaches spanning molecular, cellular, and systems neuroscience, we identify mechanisms of brain vulnerability and develop strategies to preserve cognitive health across the lifespan.
